This is from journalismjobs.com. Don't all rush out and apply, however -- here's what they're offering in exchange for all that angst and anger:

This position's pay is in the mid-20k range and is eligible for paid vacation, sick days, health and insurance plans, among other great benefits!

Due to a wealth of local journalism talent, only candidates within commuting distance of Waukesha, WI will be considered.

If this is true, why'd they even need to place the ad? There should be a host of Plan B's from last time around just waiting for a phone call.

I would guess that the bulk of the "local talent" within commuting distance of Waukesha would be at my alma mater, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, which appears to be the parent of whatever this paper is.

Seeing as that a copy editor at the J-S makes one hell of a lot more than $20,000, I suppose they won't be mining that particular pool of talent.

Sounds less like wealth of local talent and more like poverty of local employer.

Can we substitute "twice as hell" for "one hell of a lot more than"?
