From AP, on "groundbreaking" for the new Mets stadium, referring to Shea Stadium:

The stadium was the site of some of the most memorable moments in New York sports history, including the Mets' 1986 run to the World Series title and the 2000 Subway Series against the Yankees.

*** Wasn't there something in, oh, 1969? ***

Let us not forget the Jets played there during the Joe Namath era, the Beatles played there and Pope Paul held Mass there.

I guess the writer didn't believe in the National League championship in 1973.

And here I had long thought the pope, I mean that pope, said mass at Yankee Stadium. Perhaps Paul VI had his own version of a subway series.
