CRAWFORD, Texas -- President Bush charged up punishing climbs and down steep dirt paths on his high-performance bike Monday, at one point sailing over the handlebars and landing flat on his back.
The president dusted himself off from his fall on a treacherous descent, waved his medics away and kept rolling, a small cut on his knee and dirt on his back the only signs he had wrecked. He allowed that he was a bit shaken up.

I didn't know Ari Fleischer had taken a job with AP.

Yeah, really. Story makes it sound like he's riding down a mountain. Judging by the photo ops, his ranch is pretty damn flat. He probably "wrecked" on a fairly easy trail.

There are actually a good number of hills on his ranch, judging by other photos I've seen. The photo ops with guests are generally on the flat area near the house.

Deja vu? Seems like this has happened more than once, hasn't it? Or am I confusing this with the dump truck incident when he leapt out of harm's way, coming within inches of certain death ... or was that when he was rendered unconscious by the infamous killer pretzel? I can't keep it all straight. Why, again, were we so concerned about Cheney's "mild" heart condition?

You can wipe out on any hill, treacherous or not. I would regard a treacherous descent as a steep, rocky trail on a mountain.
