Not to be too picky, but as I was watching C-Span's primetime coverage of the Democratic National Convention I noticed a distinct lack of copy editing. On their main screen they had been posted the names and opinions of various republicans who were voting for Kerry. One was listed as voting for George H. W. Bush in 1998. Funny how I missed that election!

George H. W. Bush is the man who beat Dukakis in 1998. His son, George W. Bush, is the current president.

Nothing new there.
I'm constantly laughing out loud at some of the slips that make the crawl or graphics on any cable news channel.
It's appalling.

Just before 6 p.m. last night, our local CBC station [the national broadcaster in the Great White North] reported that it would be rainy in the evening turning to sunny about midnight.
I thought THAT warranted much stronger coverage than just a weather item, and waited up for the big event. Sadly, it was dark at midnight.

Anyone else think that's just plain lazy to recycle Election 2000 markers and logos --- even if the year had successfully been changed in all editions?<p>How hard is it to come up with a new one?

Beer is more plentiful outside the arena itself. In the media tent, BellSouth Corp. is offering beer to journalists covering the event. (Wall Street Journal)<p>***... which is politely declined, I presume.***

MSNBC - my addiction of choice, lately - is usually good for a typo or three in the crawler.<p>Today's goodies included: "John Kerry road a water taxi..."<p>And regarding the beer, I hope for the sake of the "Election 2000" crew that the beer was consumed in large quantities. At least that would provide them with an excuse for both the mistake and, as redpenman points out, the laziness.

Not to mention give them reasons to get really pissed off (sorry) about the port-a-potties.
