I get annoyed by stories that describe things most people know about prisons for the sole purpose of contrasting them with a rich person's life. When an Enron exec's wife went to jail last week, the story tried to do a bit of the same thing. I think it's a pointless, obvious, uncreative way to write.

It was deemed not interesting enough to run in this afternoon's paper.

I don't know about snide, but it sure had an air of the 1970s (as in "women's lifestyle pages" report) to it. I wonder at the kitchen work described as "backbreaking." It's not like they're chained together at the ankles and have to break rocks with a pickax. I shipped it off to the Biz editor, who will probably spike it.

I had that all set to run as a fill-the-page brief, and one of the higher-ups made me redo the page and basically turn the whole thing into a whole-page package with graphic.

I can see running it.
Just for the fact that there are a lot of people that believe Stewart won't do any real time in the clink, rather she'd be getting pedicures and eating truffles.<p>That may still be true, but I didn't mind AP trying to show a glimpse of what she might be facing, IF.....
