I’d usually blame breaking news and a looming deadline for this kind of thing, but some poor scribe spent at least a day on this story. Here’s the lede (and part of the second graf) of a story published today about a murder -- the first one in the community since 1994:<p>“It’s the kind of 10-year anniversary no one wanted. “Gunshots rattled an apartment complex early Saturday morning ...â€<p>(The story goes on to describe the shooting, which left a man dead in the street. A neighbor, “Mrs. Smith,†was awakened by the sound of gunfire but didn’t see anything when she looked out the window.)<p>“Soon after, police arrived, changing what Smith said is normally a quite, safe neighborhood into a murder scene.â€<p>I guess the police won’t have to look far for suspects. And the typo is a nice touch.
