Because many of us are of an age that, when the Flying Circus was getting airtime on public-TV stations in the U.S., we were young enough to find it somehow subversive. We were ripe. <p>Besides, it was funnier than Star Trek, though Python devotees are every bit as geeky.<p>One of my current operating theories (which is mine, and is a theory, and that I invented, and which I will now state . . . ) is that just about any real-life circumstance has been anticipated by a Python bit. (Actually, that's a lot like jj's theory, above.) Annoyed by your insurance company's parsimony? ("You plumped for the 'never pay' policy.") Tired of reality TV? ("I think it's disgusting... you a Member of Parliament.") Got an annoying neighbor? ("I had to bring the goat, he's not well.") Frustrated by lousy customer service? ("Did somebody say 'mattress' to Mr Lambert?") Ever deal with someone who is making too much of a small matter? ("Well, I follow the moth in the helicopter to lure it away from the flowers, and then Roy comes along in the Lockheed Starfighter and attacks it with air-to-air missiles.")<p>[ June 30, 2004: Message edited by: Grammatically Incorrect ]</p>
