Those among you who edit global snapshots pages may come across pics of the week-long mourning process for the Maori Queen, Te Arikinui Dame Te Atairangikaahu . It's inapproriate to describe her as a chief, as Sydney's Daliy Telegraph did this morning. Wire service yarns carried an explanation of the King Movement.

A postscript: Both pakeha (my lot) and and tangata whenua (the people of the land) have had much admiration for the esteemed person who has been Maori Queen for 40years. The Telegraph headline is a compelling a case for diversirty in newsrooms.
