The Illawarra Mercury this morning reported on two miners being found after five days. It didn't insult the intelligence of its many mining readers by referring to miracles.

and why wouldn't Christian miners from the Illawara regard the unfolding events at Beaconsfield as a miracle ?? .. not a word that I would choose but for many a definite explanation for what has happened ..

They might well do but there are a few things they would acknowledge. The miners were following safety practices and were saved by safety equipment that did the job it was supposed to do. The rescue efforts were co-ordinated under carefully prepared contigency plans. It's worth noting that the following morning's eition of the Daily Telegraph stopped using the word miracle in its heads and gave extensive coverage to the techniques being used.

{on another matter: a hearty welcome to Testy Copy Editors}

but Paul the cherry picker could've fallen in any direction BUT it was only by some miracle of divine intervention that it fell in such a way as to protect the miners AND keep them safe .. *grin* .. and of course you have the ultimate proof that it WAS a miracle by the very fact the Daily Telegraph stopped calling it one .. as the old adage goes .. It can't be true I read it in the Telegraph

I take the point of Mr Blanchard's cough. He beats me to it because the wicked were having rest at the time.
