Some info about David Kirk you didn't read in the paper this morning, from a blurb to one of his books:
David Kirk - doctor, Rhodes Scholar, captain of Auckland - was the leader of the All Blacks at the start of one of the greatest unbeaten runs in rugby history. His 1987 side remains the only New Zealand team to have won the World Cup.
His rugby career was marked by controversy when the All Blacks went on a rebel tour of South Africa and he (along with John Kirwin) declined to go.
His career outside rugby has included a degree from Oxford in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, a stint with management consultants McKinsey and Co, two years as an assistant to Prime Minister Jim Bolger, ......
