Fairfax Denies Reports - Fairfax has denied reports that the company is canvassing a cut of $50million in costs through redundancies and a further convergence of masthead resources. Management assured staff from both Age and Sydney Morning Herald house committees yesterday that plans to merge the mastheads' Canberra bureaus, create a central sub-editing division, increase copy sharing and close international bureaus were not discussed at Monday's Sydney meeting and were not on the table. They also denied that COO Brian Evans had given managers a 10-day deadline to devise plans on how to find these savings.
