Journalist Ross Dunn, 49, who reported for The AFR from Canberra, South Africa and the Middle East, died in Sydney yesterday after an extended illness. He was a cadet journalist on The SMH in 1981 and quickly made his name as a political reporter in Sydney and Canberra. He reported from Jerusalem until last year. His work had a global audience through his reporting for The Times of London, the Christian Science Monitor and other international outlets. Mr Dunn is survived by his wife and two children.
