After stumbling across this AAP article via Lexis/Nexis, I couldn't help posting it as a way of expressing my condolences. (Although I guess the next question would be, condolences to whom?)

Fed: Half of Australian women lack interest in sex: report

Could this be related to the hurricane of think-pieces on "mommy madness" (the pressure to be a perfect parent) that we're currently getting in America?

Okay, someone has confessed to accidentally deleting my post and asked me to repost. It went something like this:

There's an old joke:
How do you get Aussie girls to hate sex?
Marry them.

My paper ran a feature by Frederick Forsyth about a marlin-fishing trip; the headline was "The Day of the Tackle". All of my women colleagues who saw the proofs immediately thought of the Forsyth novel, The Day of the Jackal. All of the men told me it was "rude" and we shouldn't run it. Go here http://www.australiatravelsearch.com.au/trc/slang.html and scroll down to Wedding Tackle to find out why. Sigh.

Anyway, the point of the post was it's not necessarily that Aussie women hate sex; they just don't obsess about it the way the men do... Now, Paul, can I please get back to my fiddle playing?

Two points: your colleagues are too prudish and serves ya right for reading your mail on holiday.

I say the headline's a keeper.
