This from AAP<p>Australia has won an invite to next year's ASEAN summit in Malaysia as Prime Minister John Howard entered talks on a free trade pact with New Zealand and other South-East Asian nations

There's certainly a commanality of interest to use the jargon but it's ludicrous to describe Australia as a South-East Asian country and even more so to describe New Zealand as such. Rates right up there with the irritating habit that people have of talking about Britain and Europe.

I was going to write a long diatribe about how ludricous I think Asean is, but I have better things to do. Just wanted to reply to your post as a way of saying g'day, mate.

Take care.

It's southeast of Australia, anyway.

I thought the only people who talked about Britan and Europe were British. Japanese do the same thing with Japan and Asia, by the way.
