This from our union's weekly bulletin: AAP [Australian Associated Press] Off To Suburban Oblivion - Bucking accepted wisdom that newsrooms should be close to the action, AAP head office in Sydney is moving from the CBD to a rehabilitated former toxic waste site at Rhodes. Located on the old Union Carbide factory near the white elephant of Olympic Park, the development will contain Australia's biggest IKEA store but, allegedly, no pub. Members meet today to voice their anger at the move and seek assurances on environmental safety and their personal safety for early and late shifts.
[ September 19, 2004: Message edited by: Paul Wiggins ]
