News.com.au reports Arctic conditions have east coast residents to thinking twice about going outside
For heaven's sake, it's a pleasant 11 degrees (52F) out there.

I'm a native Queenslander. I exercised my right not to go outside yesterday.

More media idiocy from an item I'm about to place after a bit of editing:
A Leader reader on work duties in Darwin phoned in to share her amusement at a television weather report she saw recently. The city was experiencing a cold snap, it warned, with the temperature dropping to a frightening 28 degrees.
``We were told to pull out our winter woolies,'' she said.
28 is 82.4 degrees in the old system

What kind of "editing" did you give this, Paul?

The spike, in favour of a more tightly written one that involved a local named retired school principal who generously told all about a big mistake he once made.
[ July 21, 2004: Message edited by: Paul Wiggins ]
