My mother's cousin, who was a fringe major leaguer for nine seasons when I was a kid, was traded for Bob Uecker. (Scroll down to see transactions)

Pretty cool bit of family history. Too bad he never made more than $20,000 or so.

"Fat Jack" Fisher and Stu Miller, famous for allegedly being blown off the mound by a wind gust, for example.

I love that era of baseball. I don't give a damn about the contemporary era.

My great-grandmother was in school with Grover Cleveland Alexander and had a big crush on him. When she was in fourth grade and he (I think) in eighth, she would offer to carry his books for him. Family lore says he took her up on the offer.
