He's a hell of a pitcher, no question.

And I admire that he talks candidly about the game.

But what are we to think when he spouts off like a random sports-talk-radio yahoo caller?

I admire that he retracted his ignorant rant about Bonds.

But what are we to think when he did so only because a) his manager told him to shut his cakehole; and b) he chose to offer a flaccid excuse for his verbal feces?

Quote:
Although Schilling wrote Wednesday that he had no excuse, he said the interview's early hour contributed to what he said.

"I'd love to tell you I was ambushed, misquoted, misinterpreted, something other than what it was, but I wasn't," he wrote. "I'm thinking that waking up at 8:30 a.m. to do the weekly interview we do with WEEI is probably not the greatest format and if you heard the interview it's not hard to realize that I'm usually awake about 30-45 seconds before it begins."

You have to wonder if crap like this is going to eventually cost him Hall of Fame votes.

Why do you even bother listening to what a jock like
Schilling has to say? He throws a baseball. That's what
he does. Doesn't take much brains, just the ability
to concentrate and throw to a target.

What's with our sportswriting brethren, anyway?
Why do they even report on the crap a jock like
Schilling has to say in the first place?

I've covered sports ... in the far distant past. Guess what?
Most jocks then were dopes. I don't think that's changed ...
and I certainly don't want to hear about what a doofus like
Schilling has to say about Bonds or about the world at large.

Duh!
