Since 2001, the Yankees have returned to the World Series only once ... NYT

*Maybe we Yankee fans are a little spoiled (although it sure didn't feel that way when I was growing up in the 60s).*

And it sure as heck didn't feel that way from 1982 to 1994 either, ADK. People who hate the Yankees forget the team was terrible (with brief exceptions in 1985, 1986, 1987 and 1994, when it was competitive but still not a division winner) for that 13-year stretch.

But now that Randy Johnson is (metaphorically, and perhaps literally soon for a press conference) on his way to the Bronx, the four-year streak without a World Series Yankee win should come to a merciful end.

Ah, 1967! Charley Smith at 3d, Ruben Amaro at short, Jake Gibbs behind the plate. The closer was Dooley Womack. Mantle hit .245 with 22 HRs, 55 RBIs. Tresh hit .219.
