Published but unattributed speculation from within the front office that he was taking his time coming back upset Garciaparra anew before all seemed forgotten when he returned to a series of standing ovations on June 9. (AP)
***Good enough for me. After all, it's just a sports story.***

Hed in Albany, N.Y., paper:
"A short stop in Chicago"
*I guess he's going to be traded again.*

He's a free agent at the end of the season.
Still, a presumptuous headline, perhaps?

Yeah, I suppose the hed could prove prophetic. We'll have to reserve judgment on its accuracy until after the season.

Given what had happened in the past six months or so (A-Rod coming to Boston, the slow return to the field, etc.), it should come as no surprise that Nomar was going to be traded before season's end.
Furthermore, Chicago fans will soon learn that Nomar will always be about Nomar. He always says the correct things in public, but they're designed to cast himself in the most positive light.
All in all, Nomar is a great baseball player, but he'll never be a team player.
