The baseball announcers don't return my calls and act like they're not home when I drop by. So perhaps some TCE can tell me why they say "The batter is 2-for-3" rather than "2-of-3," and the ball was "swung on" rather than "swung at."<p>And don't tell me it's because they've always said it that way. I know that.

Probably because "oh-of-3" would be hard to say.
