Doesn't a "beaning" mean a player was hit in the head by a pitch?

Quote:
LOS ANGELES (AP) -Not even Prince Fielder really knows what he might have done if a phalanx of security guards and teammates hadn't prevented the furious Milwaukee slugger from entering the Los Angeles clubhouse after a ninth-inning beaning.

It's different than a drilling, which is the word used later in the story:

Quote:
Guillermo Mota was ejected for drilling Fielder with two outs in the ninth.

But AP is coy throughout:

Quote:
"I'm pretty sure our guy wasn't really trying to hit Manny," Milwaukee's Mike Cameron said. "I mean, it just kind of grazed him.

So where did it hit him? I assume that if he was hit in the head, it would be a significant enough fact that it would be mentioned.

That's my understanding, too:
"Beaned" means a pitch upside the head, "drilled" means a body shot.

That's a big difference. Location should be in the story.

The video I saw had the ball headed for his knees --- definitely not a "beaning."
