From BBC World News, in D-Day coverage: "Some US regiments had lost more than 100% of their complement of officers."<p>Could someone who is math or military savvy tell me how this is possible? If 100% of the complement of officers was wiped out, then it was wiped out...how can you lose more than that? Are they counting field promotions?<p>Jessica

I think they're referring to a unit's "original complement," or maybe, statistically, to a "normal complement." But they don't say that, do they? You're right. Sounds careless and confusing.
