This is from the CNN story on actor Tony Randall's death. <p>" ...The son of an art dealer, he was graduated from Tulsa Central High School ..."<p>"Was graduated"? "Graduated"? Is the act the person's (graduated) or the school's (was graduated)? TCE preferences?

"Was graduated from" is technically correct, and some insist on it. I think it's pretentious and wouldn't hesitate to say that John Q. Smith graduated from Podunk U.
