I was already upset about the writing in this local story (about teachers training to teach for a standardized test). And now I weep for our education system as well:<p>----------------------------<p> ``I can teach you within the next few minutes how to make your students better readers. Are you interested?'' Pocquette asked.
Dozens of teachers responded with a resounding ``Yes!''
Using a visual, Pocquette pretended to bounce an invisible basketball to a participating coach.
``Watch it bounce four times before he catches it,'' Pocquette said as the teachers bobbed their heads to follow the invisible ball.
``I just showed you how to survey a test,'' he said.
In that manner, students can learn to bounce or skim through reading a test question.

The writing is no great shakes, but I'm not sure I see a problem with the pedagogy. Haven't you been in an exam room where just this kind of thing happens?

Well, no. I never learned to read a test by looking at an invisible basketball.
