This Dave Barry column was such a riot that Jim Shea of the Hartford Courant (again?) just couldn't resist. <p>*** "It's not plagiarism!" No, it isn't. "It's an obvious idea!" Then why write it? Dave Barry has a long history of writing strained takes on the obvious, but, although he has a Pulitzer Prize, there's no reason to copy him.***

I have always believed that if Dave Barry deserved a Pulitzer, so did Erma Bombeck.

I refuse to believe anyone actually reads Dave Barry. I figure papers just run him because they don't know any better.

Guys, he's popular because a lot of people, less sophisticated than us, I'm sure, find him funny.

Sigh. I guess those who say the "media" are out-of-touch elitists must be onto something.

To be fair, I will admit that a smile began to form on my lips in response to this Dave Barry column. But it was early in my day.
