This is what happens when newspapers get involved with idiotic "stories." And note the quoting of a "crop circle expert."<p>BC-CROPCIRCLES-CORRECTIVE :D E … world (150 words)<p> Knight Ridder/Tribune News Service<p> (KRT)<p> Editors who used CROPCIRCLES :D E which moved Friday, Aug. 8,
are asked to use the following:<p> On Aug. 6, the day after the Detroit Free Press published
its crop-circles story, a Detroit radio station, WKQI-FM,
claimed two of its on-air personalities had created the circles
as a hoax and apologized for duping the farmer who owned the
field, Mike Esper.<p> On Aug. 7, the radio station retracted the claim. Station
management said in a news release that it was investigating and
``still determining what consequences these employees will
face.''<p> Esper and a crop circle expert quoted in the story have said
they do not believe the radio station's employees created the
circles. Esper noted several other groups also have claimed
responsibility.<p> ………<p> For editors who did not yet use the story, a mandatory kill
is issued for CROPCIRCLES :D E.<p> ………<p> Distributed by, Knight Ridder/Tribune Information Services.<p> AP-NY-08-10-03 1704EDT

This reminds me that I'm overdue preparing an update to "It's OK to Say There's No Such Thing as a Weeping Icon."

I suspect the editors who chose not to use the "story" were not quite heartbroken by the mandatory kill.
