BRUSSELS, Belgium … He's
already Italy's richest man, a billionaire media tycoon, soccer supremo … and Italian prime minister. Today,
Silvio Berlusconi gets to
represent the European Union.<p> The prospect is provoking diplomatic concern and howls of outrage from headline writers around
the continent as Italy … with
Berlusconi at its helm … assumes
the six-month rotating EU presidency.<p>***********I'm not particularly outraged. Are you?

That's true. But I bet "The Reader" doesn't understand why headline writers would be "outraged," nor would "The Reader" give a shit about alleged copy editor "outrage."<p>Unless, of course, things are different on that continent...

Well, Im European and I don't want this right-wing Italian version of Rupert Murdoch representing the EU or, for that matter, Italy.<p>That said, I only ran a brief on the story because I knew the reaction of my readers would be..jeez, who cares.
