Ignoring the misplaced apostrophe in her name, this came from a story about Lil' Kim:
Sachs said that the 4-foot-11 rap artist was upset, but “should be commended for acting responsibly and being patient.”
First. Who cares how tall she is.
Second, should I be commended for acting responsibly and cutting this drivel?

I was always taught that you couldn't say someone was petite unless you stated her actual height first. Maybe the writer says she's petite later in the story.
That said, there are still writers out there, unfortunately, who think that height is a character element for both men and women.

Perhaps the writer thought it might be worth mentioning how Lil' Kim got that nickname.

Just rubbish that seeped in.
On another People note:
I liked the Sub AP sent on the Snoop Dog people brief. (Isn't it the same in Lil' Abner?)
But how lil' is Lil' Kim? One site said she is 5-2.

In a too-long story we used about the former New York state comptroller, who is 6 foot 5 or so, a statehouse reporter groping for adjectives wrote that "The tall comptroller said he would..."
Somehow, it did not make the final cut...
