I was surprised to see such specific salary information in an ad for a newspaper job. The top bound was much higher than I'd expect. I wonder if they've realized the contact information is missing, or if that's part of the test. From journalismjobs.com:

$25,000 to $40,000 is impressive -- unless there's no chance in hell of anyone getting more than $26,000.

Perhaps this is an attempt to attract big-timers, with the hope of finding one who'll end up running the reporting staff or the entire newsroom. With hundreds of strong reporters taking buyouts in the past year or so, and more about to be, such a strategy could become common.
