The Miami Herald just laid copy editor Brayden Simms off. Amazingly, he also wrote a blog for them about saving money in this terrible economy. He wrote a depressing column about how they tricked him into taking a full-time job and then outsourced it to India. Now he is blogging—for the Herald!—about meeting with his financial planner to discuss how to survive without an income. (Gawker)

*** Brayden. Are you here? We're with you, but please don't do this. ***

Geez. Have a little dignity, man.

This is like getting dumped by your spouse and eagerly running back the minute she calls — to the house she kicked you out a few weeks before. Because you're hoping there'll be at least one more chance for you two to ... yeah ....

If he's blogging for them, then they're probably paying him. When you're out of a job in a hard economy you take what comes your way. Nothing wrong with that.

I think this tells potential employers that here is someone they can take advantage of.

I'll bet he isn't getting paid for that blog entry. I will inquire.

How's he paying the life coach and the financial planner when he doesn't have a job anymore?

The first words you hear when entering journalism school is: "This milk ain't for free." Kids, your Mom was right, please take it to heart.

One of the comments on Simms's first column is from his mom.
