So, have you ever imagined yourself as the Editor for a local online version of The Daily Show or the Colbert Report? Yet instead of a national focus, your focus was more local? (JournalismJobs.com)

What a great ad. I would never respond to an ad that says to send things to an "Amy@" address. Very professional sounding.

My favorite part: "Think about what people will be saying one year from now," followed by imaginary reviews of what they envision the company will become. Maybe a year from now some of the investors will think 'Why did I flush my money down the shitter on that idea?"

So, if you are considered a local expert with established community ties, intimate local knowledge and the desire to become a local media super star, this is the opportunity for you. If you’re a self promoter with an insatiable desire for attention, kind of like Chris Matthews – Examiner.com will give you the platform to build the kind of presence and reputation that leads to everyone in the country knowing your views on, well, everything!
[added emphases mine]

I applaud them for their honesty, even if I won't be applying and am not qualified. It's not a news position so much as entertainment.

Interested and qualified candidates can contact Amy Xxxxx at FitzDrake Search.

And apparently the recruiting is being done by a contractor.

The Examiner company has been way ahead of most newspapers in trying new stuff. It's no surprise they'd be the first ones to take a shot at replicating the Daily Show's success on a local level.
