I'd be more optimistic about these folks "reinventing the moribund publishing industry" if their want ad didn't have a signal-to-noise ratio of about .0001 ....

Xconomy, an emerging network of blogs covering the business of innovation--and helping to reinvent the moribund publishing industry--seeks an enthusiastic, creative, versatile, knowledgeable journalist with impeccable writing skills to work with us in our flagship Boston site. This entry- to mid-level staff position will focus on the biotechnology and medical sectors, but qualified respondents will be able to write about anything we cover, from clean energy to information technology to venture capital. The ideal candidate will be a resourceful researcher, fearless interviewer, and swift writer with the chops to produce breaking news stories and longer features on a daily schedule. She or he will also possess a great team attitude and a sense of humor.

This position combines the best parts of working for a startup (ie, tons of opportunity to shape the publication's focus and to build equity in the company) with the best parts of working for an established company (ie, a competitive salary and benefits.) Title and salary will be based on experience.

Xconomy was founded by a world-class team of news and publishing professionals with years of experience at BusinessWeek, MIT's Technology Review, Science, Scientific American, IDG, and other leading publications. Our mission is to help create a new era of interactive, hyper-local journalism and become one of the world's most authoritative voices on business and innovation. Our standards are high, but so are the potential rewards.

To apply, please forward a cover letter, resume, and several clips or links to clips to jobs@xconomy.com.
