...it's the Continuous News desk.

From journalismjobs.com:

Quote:
The editor will manage a staff of producers and multimedia editors to support a Continuous News desk and specialty sports, consumer Web products, and entertainment sites, including lehighvalley.metromix.com.

... This position collaborates closely with a team of other Web savvy editors and managers, including a database editor, visuals assignment editor, visuals operations editor, a manager of Web product development, and a Metro desk robustly equipped to cover multimedia news 24/7. The Online Editor reports directly to the Managing Editor and the General Manager of the Web site and works with a highly functioning team of other senior editors and managers.

Sounds top-heavy to me.

No, no, it's just robust.

Sounds sensible to me. It would be intreresting to hear any anecdotes about the place.

I think "continuous copyflow's" unavoidable.

Right now we have a 3-12p copy desk with a 6-2a. Web site. The bosses looked suprised when I meekly suggested that the shifts are going to have to be rejiggered to match when we're actually publishing copy.

What's it going to take for papers to realize they're making more, not less work for copy editors?!?

Short of a good, old-fashioned libel suit, featuring the Google-cached page? Who knows.
