Yeah, next they'll be hiring ad staff to bolster their pitching.

Or maybe not--as Redaktor points out below, they're also going to expect to get some pitching out of this hire.

Makes perfect sense:
A clairvoyant has the advantage of knowing what pitch is coming, and therefore will be able to drive the ball out of the park.

And, a clairvoyant who predicts events without error could be a great reporter to have around.

Although if I had such skill, I wouldn't work for a small-town paper. I'd be picking Powerball numbers and sinking casinos and dominating Wall Street. But that's just me.

So if there hasn't been a bank robbery in town this week . . .

Here's one from February 13 (514 Central Avenue Time)

Mayor wants another term
Ackman to run for re-election
By .......

FARIBAULT - Mayor Chuck Ackman said Tuesday night that he will seek re-election in November.
In a press release, Ackman ranked at the top of his priorities the vitality of downtown, a new freeway exchange on the north side of town, and better relationships with the school district and county.

Just the kind of 4-3 double play they're hoping to drop, obviously.

A small-market team like Faribault ought to know that it could get a 20-home-run-a-year hitter on the cheap — but will have to put up with a lot of strikeouts and a low batting average. And probably bad defense to boot.
