PALESTINE — Mary Rainwater, who has worked as a staff writer for the Herald-Press for the past six years, has been promoted to copy editor. ... In her new role, Rainwater will be responsible for the layout/design of the newspaper three days a week, while other editors will pick up the remaining days of pagination. Editing stories also will be a part of her job. (Palestine Herald-Press)

Rainwater has worn many hats in her six years at the Herald-Press. From covering school board meetings to breaking news stories to taking photos and designing pages, she has been a good sport about the diverse duties a newspaper this size offers.


In her spare time, she builds hat racks.
