My boss at two different papers has been arrested on rape and sodomy charges.

Wow, and I thought I had some embarrassing former bosses.

Keep your fingers crossed that it's not true or he has a very good lawyer.

And then there are the lawsuits that he's a defendant in. I never thought I'd know -- much less work for -- that person.

Oh, I have a few good ones I'd love to share, but, sadly, the folks are still working pillars of the community. I guess it makes me a bad person for considering them good references as long as they're not in jail.

I'll speak highly about your keen eye and sharp wit on here if you're ever hard up, Powderhorn.

I have a former boss (who was also a youth pastor, by the way) who was charged with inappropriate behavior with an underage girl. He was in his late 30s and the girl was 15 or so.

He was my boss at a horrible retail job, but I think the horror of recognizing his picture on the news was just as bad as it would have been if we'd worked at a paper.

How did the corporate parent allow the editor to have that many outside business interests, let alone the lawsuits? I would think conflicts of interests could have been a daily concern. (And I'm familiar with the size of Ashland and Medford. I had family living there for many years.)

I talked with the Medford editor today, and it sounds like Scot rather blatantly misstated the extent of his business dealings. On the plus side, the rape and sodomy charges were dropped.
