Hey, kids: How much is the night differential at your paper (if you have one)?

I think it's a few dollars per shift.

In Chicago, it was 10 percent.

At the last paper I worked at, it was "You can park in the lot next to the building after 6 p.m."

At my first paper, we could turn off the Muzak at 5 without repercussions, though it was "against the rules."

$3.75 a night.

And $10 for a "supervisory shift." (I get to claim those on weekends and holidays.)

Quick check of a couple of Canadian contracts:
Ottawa Citizen - $11/shift
GNM - $13 a shift any part of which falls between 8p and 8a; $15 a shift if it starts betwwn 7p and 5a; differential carries over for sick leave, vacation and holidays for folks normally skedded on nights.
TorStar - 10 per cent extra (to $13/shift max) for any shifts that fall between 6p and 6a, again including sick leave, vacation and holidays.
Thanks to the Guild!

Wow, $10-15? We've been at $4 for as long as I can remember.
