Maybe this publication will outgrow infancy someday.

From journalismjobs.com:

Quote:
If you're reading this, you're likely looking for a change.

But what are you looking for?

Maybe a place where hilarious headlines are encouraged and creative ideas fly?

Where the newsroom plays XM Radio all night and buzzes with the funny things on the wires?

Where readers proclaim that they "love" the paper?

Where you could mix up editing with a bit of budgeting, your own ideas about what goes in the paper tomorrow, maybe design?

Where you can exercise your stellar editing skills while occasionally writing a story or taking the lead on a cover package?

Link is looking for you.

What is Link? We're the younger sibling of The Virginian-Pilot, a daily newspaper internationally known for innovation. Link is a free, full-color, tab-sized weekday paper (Monday through Friday) that mixes up the most interesting stories from the wires with picks from the Pilot. We are quick, with a dash of playfulness. We like to find stories you haven't already heard about on CNN, and we design the paper to read swiftly. We want to make our readers laugh, think and plot their week.

Who reads Link? Link is aimed at 18- to 34-year-olds in South Hampton Roads, Va., but we've met 9-year-olds and 69-year-olds who love our publication. (That's the verb we hear most often when our readers cross our paths: "I love Link!" Pretty wonderful.) They also call it the "Link magazine," which makes us smile. It's not a magazine, but the colors pop and the stories read as if it is one.

What sorts of stories will I be editing? Our pages include sports, local news, national and international news, entertainment, features, a calendar, comics, celebrity gossip and two pages just of photos. We're a mini-paper, a sign of 2007. We do a lot of trimming, so you'll be cutting 25-inch city council stories to three-paragraph briefs. We need a copy editor with a careful eye who can handle both wire and Virginian-Pilot articles skillfully. We care about presenting the news quickly, accurately and smartly.

What about the future? We're a mere 9 months old, with more growing to do. We'll be expanding our Web site later this year and launching our first back-to-school edition. We've got more plans in the works, and we love ideas.

Jesus wept.

I bet this "Link" will be a missing "Link" come time to draw up the 2009 newsroom budget.
