Our copy editors must have a keen eye for errors of style and substance. Each story must be edited for accuracy, clarity, completeness, objectivity, grammar, spelling, organization, readability and style. Quark skills are a must. Candidates must also have strong design skills and be team oriented. At least three years copy editing experience is required.

No headlines that sing? What are they thinking?

For a four-day week, I'd write headlines that sing.

When I was in J-school in that town years ago, the paper had no copy editors. I see that they at least now have "copy editor/designers".

The paper was, and still is AFAIK, known as the Evil Empire around town because of its unabashed pro-business tilt, particularly when the parent company's own considerable financial interests were involved. That said, it's one of the most innovative news organizations in the country; it's put a lot of resources into its online identity, which more papers should emulate; and it's locally owned so it doesn't answer to out-of-town bean counters. If they're now pouring resources into copy editing too, I'm all for it.

Wonderful town, too.
