The Associated Press seeks a newsperson for its Albany bureau. This is a general assignment position that includes part-time reporting/writing beat covering health care in New York state. Assignments in the state capitol bureau are possible. This newsperson works with the news editor to set beat agendas and develop aggressive spot and distinctive enterprise stories -- including multimedia -- on health care policy and its affect on consumers, industry trends -- particularly in diet and fitness -- and the business of health and health care. This newsperson should regularly break news and produce strong enterprise pegged to the news. After training, this person will also supervise print and broadcast desks, writing, editing and transmitting copy for New York state newspapers and broadcasters and national AP desks.

Will someone please put the AP hiringperson out of his or her misery?

Sure. Features related to things in the news (unlike the random ladies' magazine/reference book material that passes for feature stories in the paper I work at). Makes perfect sense to me. Then again, maybe I'm just excited to see someone try to articulate that concept.

"... and produce strong enterprise pegged to the news."

Translated, "Don't be surprised by anything we ask you to do."

Would you want to work for a paper that still doesn't understand the difference between affect and effect?
