From an ad for a reporter at the Gannett site:

I note that Gannett seems to have settled on seven years of experience as a minimum requirement. That's OK, I guess, but why not six? Or eight?

It's actually refreshing to see USA Today seeking such experience, considering most openings, even at large papers, try to hire on the cheap with less-experienced journalists.
