PART-TIME MANAGING EDITOR FOR AMAZING NATIONAL NEWS SITE:

Quote:
We are looking for a high quality manager to train and manage the editors of our daily news site and oversee editing of our front page.

Our mission is to bring high-quality news from hundreds of sources across the Internet to the public in one place. We are an IRS-approved 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. We believe we will become a top news site over time. We are a 21st-century news organization built for the future. To view the site, click here.

One weekday for 5 hours between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. E.T. with at least a half hour in breaks. E.g. you could do 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. or 8:30 to 2 p.m. with a half hour break, or 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. with an hour in breaks. The day would be the same each week, and you can pick which day it is. If you're on the West Coast, we might be willing to do 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. E.T.

2-3 hours of availability during a weekday evening to do virtual feedback sessions with new editors. Some flexibility is needed based on editor schedules and the availability of other trainers, though most of the time you can choose which evening you want.

On the weekend days, 8 hours of work between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. E.T. spread over at least a nine-hour period. E.g. you could do 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an hour in breaks, or 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. with two hours in breaks. It also would be fine to split the time in two, e.g. 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. .

Site looks like a credible (though far short of "amazing") effort, but I can't imagine how one could manage much of anything working 18 hours a week for $10 an hour. I don't know that I'd be able to grasp and follow that schedule for any amount of money.

Anyone who can figure out that schedule can sure as hell do a lot better than that job.

I just realized that I made 50 cents more than that starting out as a sawmill helper with no previous experience.

In central Alabama.

(I guess DailySource is the nonprofit future of journalism folks have been talking about. No profit for anyone.)
