Joe Grimm is running a series of "career success stories" on Poynter. That's all good, but let's just say that one man's "success" is another's nightmare.

Every paper I've worked at has had folks who doubled their salaries by flacking the stuff they used to report on. (A few egregious examples I think I'm too lazy to write about now.) Dream if you like money, nightmare if you don't.

Don't call it a dream until you've tried it. More like, a better-paying nightmare than journalism.
