Company: Conjecture
Position: Nine Smart Freelance Writers Needed
Location: All Locations, Telecommute
Website: http://www.conjecture.com
(See full ad here.)

We're looking for nine smart writers to grow our network of websites. This gig is a great, flexible way to supplement your income.

Topics. We are currently looking for writers that are comfortable writing articles in at least one of the following topics:

1. Business 2. Computers 3. Economy 4. Engineering 5. Finance 6. Industry 7. Investing 8. Manufacturing 9. Science10. Technology

You'll be able to choose the topics you write on by selecting articles from an open pool that is kept at approximately 500 titles. If you are not comfortable writing in at least one of the topics listed above, then this is probably not the right gig for you. ...

Quantity. We prefer at least five articles a week, but many of our writers produce 15-40+ articles a week. We will not be able to keep accepting articles from you if you submit less than ten articles per month.

One-on-one Editor Relationship. You'll work one-on-one with an editor, submitting your articles and receiving feedback through an online system.

Pay. Pay is $10 per article. Minimum average article length is 400 words.

Byline. Articles include a byline, offering writers, especially those that are just starting out, the opportunity to build their portfolio.

Copyright. Your submissions will become our property. You are of course welcome to cite or link to the articles that you submitted.
...
Testing Process. Qualified candidates will be asked to proceed through a writing test before being formally accepted to write for us. The testing process will consist of three batches of three articles each. Editors will provide you with feedback between batches that you will need to apply in your subsequent test batch(es) in order to continue on in the testing process. You will be paid the normal rate for the test articles, assuming they represent a good faith effort and do not contain any plagiarism.

How to Apply. If you're interested, email jj -at- conjecture -dot- com with the following information. Be sure to include the information inline or as links, as opposed to as attachments.

Pay is $10 per article.

Perhaps it's an intelligence test: Anybody who applies for this job is automatically ineligible for the real openings, which will be announced later.

Otherwise, please tell me that's not our jj.

I have a nearly identical posting at jj - at - wild-speculation - dot - com, and really the only difference is mine is worded thusly:

We will not be able to keep accepting articles from you if you submit fewer than ten articles per month.

I figure these clowns owe me $10 a word just for reading that ad.

Ten bucks a story. Wow, that's a pretty good living in parts of the undeveloped world. Good thing you can telecommute.

You have to buy your own copy of the Mad Libs template, though.
