I can't say whether these jobs can be classed as hellacious; but was I the only one not won over by the prose? I'm willing to be talked out of my first impressions (if anyone wishes to bother).

From JournalismJobs.com:

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram is looking for two talented and enthusiastic copy editors for the news copy desk. The ideal candidates are nitpickers who can see the big picture, grammarians who know when to break the rules, wordsmiths who can operate a calculator, precisionists who can write a clever headline.

It's not really that memorable, one way or the other. In their zeal to avoid subject-verb disagreement, though, they got caught with multiple wordsmiths operating a single calculator and multiple precisionists writing a single headline. If it takes a collaborative effort to operate the calculator, sounds like the copy desk has more problems than we realize.

It's not that it takes collaboration; it's that they have only one!
