From actor to auteur: Ben Affleck's career trajectory [CNN]

When you think you want to use your froggish synonym for "a director whose work the writer really really likes," think again. The director of the "Girls Gone Wild" videos is also an auteur. [If you must use the word, go whole hog and be sure to pair it with oeuvre.] Also, keep in mind that trajectories come in two flavors: endless spinning, and eventual crash.

"Froggish." Ahem.

I don't think Jean Renoir would consider the "Girls Gone Wild" directors to be auteurs. But I agree that the term does not apply to Affleck, at least not yet, with this movie.

"Froggish" is just so incredibly offensive. I can hardly believe someone would write it. I read innocently on looking for an amphibious reference before it hit me over the head, leaving me suitably shocked and appalled.

Good. I was going for shocked and appalled. Would've settled for stunned and dismayed.
