If it feels like you've already read a much better-written version of this Fox News story in the Times, why, you did. However, Fox gives us important insights into Civil War history that the Times missed: The hero of the Union Army medical corps looked like Donald Sutherland, if you enlarged the photo enough, and the aftermath of battle resembled "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre," already a popular film series in the 1860s.
