MODESTO, Calif. - The submerged object found by sonar in a marina turned out to be a boat anchor, not the body of a missing pregnant woman as feared, her sister-in-law said Saturday.
"I have to laugh," said Susan Caudillo as volunteers applauded and cheered. "It's a very common thing to have in a marina. We just knew it wasn't going to be Laci."

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Authorities said on Saturday that what they had previously thought might be the body of a missing eight-and-a-half-month pregnant woman at the bottom of a bay was actually a boat anchor.
Police in the central California town of Modesto are investigating the Christmas Eve disappearance of 27-year-old Laci Peterson.
She was reported missing by her husband, Scott, who said he spent the day fishing alone at Berkeley Marina about 85 miles from home and returned to find his wife gone Dec. 24. ... Police have not ruled the husband out as a suspect.
***And, most assuredly, neither has Reuters.***

Downing believes a medical breakthrough might one day at least get her out of her wheelchair and standing, although she does not dream of ever being 100 percent again. "But I don't think I'll die paralyzed in a wheelchair," she said - "unless I get hit by another car or something," she adds with a laugh. (Scripps Howard News Service)
***Stop it. You're killing me.***

Wouldn't this woman have been eight-and-a-half months pregnant?

Of course she was eight-and-a-half-months pregnant, but she was also an eight-and-a-half-month pregnant woman.
Just as you take a vacation of two weeks, but it is a two-week vacation.
