More bad exclusionary leads

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) â€” Space shuttle Columbia's pure science mission initially was seen as a vehicle for an all-female crew, but that idea was abandoned.
Then it was proposed as a carrier for GoreSat, the Earth-observing spacecraft dreamed up by Vice President Al Gore, but that was put on ice by a Republican Congress.
Now an Israeli astronaut is at center stage.*** Why, oh, why, do writers insist on starting their stories by telling us FIRST what the story is NOT about? As my first mentor in journalism told me: "If you're writing a story about a bear ... then tell me about the goddamn bear."
